As part of the SE.TC Erasmus+ project funded by the European Commission, East International University (EIU) has recently organized a dynamic four-day workshop aimed at nurturing the next generation of social entrepreneurs among its student community.
The workshop was led by a team of committed trainers from EIU who delivered interactive, hands-on sessions covering essential aspects of social entrepreneurship. Topics included planning and measuring social impact, business management, marketing strategies, digital tools for social enterprises, financial and economic sustainability, and the legal frameworks that govern social enterprise initiatives.
Throughout the workshop, students were divided into six groups, each tasked with identifying a pressing social issue within their local community. Using the knowledge and tools acquired during the sessions, each group developed a project to tackle their chosen challenge, applying real-world problem-solving in a collaborative learning environment. Here are the project names and the social problems to be addressed: Ability through Disability (unemployment for physically disabled people), Reviving Artizana (extinction of pottery profession), Khayt_Rahmeh(wasted clothes & shoes), From Heart to Plate (wasted food), Beyond Orphans (unhealthy & unhappy orphans), and HerHand (Unemployment for women).
By the end of the program, participants had not only embraced a social entrepreneurial mindset but also acquired key entrepreneurial skills that will empower them to bring their projects to life and create meaningful, lasting impact in their communities.
This initiative reflects EIU’s ongoing commitment to experiential learning and community engagement, and it strengthens its role in fostering socially responsible innovation through local and international collaboration.
